Stuffed Mushrooms

Stuffed Mushrooms are the perfect appetizer for a party. Delicious roasted Mushrooms stuffed with the perfect combination of cheeses and sausage. So yummy!

Ingredients

  • 24 Button or Cremini Mushrooms (with the stems removed)
  • 3 tablespoons Butter
  • 1 Shallot (finely chopped) (you can substitute onion)
  • 1 clove Garlic (minced)
  • 8 oz Italian Sausage (we used mild)
  • 4 oz Cream Cheese
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan Cheese (grated)
  • 1/2 cup Jack Cheese (grated)
  • 1/3 cup Bread Crumbs

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 F.
  2. Wash and remove the stems from the mushrooms.
  3. Arrange mushrooms on a prepared baking sheet (lined with parchment paper or aluminum foil.)
  4. Chop up mushroom stems.
  5. In a pan, melt butter on medium heat.
  6. Add mushroom stems, onions, and garlic and sauté until onions are soft.
  7. Remove the mushrooms from the pan and put them in a mixing bowl.
  8. Remove sausage from casing and add to the pan you used to sauté mushroom stems. Break up sausage into small pieces and cook thoroughly.
  9. Add sausage (without the grease) to the mushroom stem mixture in the bowl.
  10. Add Bread Crumbs, Cream Cheese, Jack Cheese, and Parmesan Cheese and mix well.
  11. Use a tablespoon to scoop mixture into mushroom caps.
  12. Sprinkle Parmesan Cheese on top of filled mushroom caps.
  13. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until tops are browned and mushrooms are cooked through.
  14. Serve hot.
