How to Make the Cookie Dough
Step 1: Our Peppa Pig Frosted Sugar Cookies start with our Best Sugar Cookie Recipe. This sugar cookie dough is easy to work with, tastes great, and really holds its shape during the baking process. You can find the recipe and detailed instructions on how to make the dough here.
Step 2: Cut out the cookies. (We used a Peppa Pig cookie cutter that we found on Etsy. It was the perfect shape, very reasonably priced and arrived the same week we bought it. Thanks Etsy!) Bake the cookies in a 350-degree oven for 6-7 minutes and allow them to cool completely.
How to Make the Frosting
Step 3: Next you will need to prepare some of our Best Buttercream Frosting (you will find the recipe and detailed directions here). Creamy and delicious, it is the “secret” ingredient to these fun birthday party cookies.
Step 4: Separate the frosting into three bowls. The first bowl will be for covering the cookies so you will need more of this color than the other two. We used 2 drops of Wilton Color Right Pink food coloring to get this subtle shade of pink.
Step 5: Now color the other two portions of buttercream frosting dark pink and red. We used the following food coloring formulas.
- Medium Pink (used to outline the Peppa Pig Cookie) – 4 Drops of Wilton Color Right Pink Food Coloring
- Red (used for Peppa Pig’s mouth, cheek, and nose) – 2 drops of Red food coloring and 2 drops of Crimson food coloring.
Step 6: First, using a knife or spreader cover the sugar cookie with a layer of light pink frosting.
Step 7: Now press on the Candy Eyes (you can find these fun candy monster eyes in the baking aisle of most grocery and big box stores now.) Place the first eye under the first ear. The second eye should go next to it on the nose area of the cookie. We used the end of a decorating tip to create a guide for the dark pink cheek area.
Step 8: Use the medium pink frosting in a decorating bag with a Wilton #3 decorating tip to create an outline around Peppa’s face and ears as shown in the picture above. You should also use the medium pink frosting to outline the Wilton Candy Eyes.
Step 9: Finally, use the red frosting to fill in the cheek circle that you created previously. Add a smile and two dots for Peppa Pig’s nose and you are done!
Step 10: Allow the frosting on the cookies to set up a bit before you store the cookies.
