M&M Flower Chocolate Cookies
M&M Flower Chocolate Cookies are sweet, chocolatey mini-cookies covered with our Best Buttercream Frosting and M&M Flowers. Easy and yummy and so very pretty!
One of our more popular Spring desserts is our Spring Flower Pretzel Bites and we thought that they are too pretty to just exist all on their own. So we created these M&M Flower Chocolate Cookies to join them on the Easter dessert table. We replaced the pretzels with soft and chocolatey mini cookies, the candy melts with creamy buttercream frosting but kept the Spring M&M’s just as they are. We’ve got another winner if we don’t say so ourselves. This is definitely going to be an annual Easter-time tradition for our family and we think it will be the same for you. Happy Spring and enjoy!
How to Make the Cookie Dough
Step 1: To make the chocolate cookie dough, mix together the dry ingredients (including the cocoa powder) and set aside. Cream together the butter and white and brown sugar. Mix in the eggs and vanilla. Finally, add in the dry ingredients 1 cup at a time.
Step 2: To make small chocolate cookies that were similar in size, we measured .5 oz of cookie dough on our food scale for each cookie. Roll the chocolate cookie dough into a ball. Slightly press down the cookie dough ball on the cookie sheet. Bake the cookies in a 350-degree oven for 7-8 minutes. Allow the cookies to cool. We were able to make 60 cookies with this amount of dough.
How to Make The Best Buttercream Frosting
Step 3: Now you need to make a half batch of our amazing The Best Buttercream Frosting. It is so creamy and yummy and tastes great on these mini chocolate cookies. You can find the detailed directions right here.
How to Decorate the Cookies
Step 4: To create the pretty Spring flowers you will need two bags of Bunny Mix M&M’s. You can find them in grocery stores immediately after Valentine’s Day and all through the Spring. Each M&M flower is made up of 7 M&M’s. You can make them in any color combination but we think the M&M Flowers look best when there is a common element in the color combination. For this batch, we used the yellow M&M’s for all of the flowers except the yellow flower where we used pink.
Step 5: Use a knife to frost the Chocolate Cookies with the Buttercream Frosting.
Step 6: Press the M&M’s onto the frosting in the flower pattern. Place a single M&M in the center of the melted candy melt for the flower center. Now create the flower petals with contrasting colored M&M’s – we used six M&M’s for the petals.
Step 7: Don’t these Springtime Flower Cookies Bites looks pretty? Just like a bouquet of Spring flowers! And boy do they taste chocolate-y and delicious. And the extra crunch from the M&M is a super great addition to this mini cookie.
