How to make the Rice Krispie Treat mixture
The base for our Valentine’s Day Rice Krispie Treat Bites is our Best Ever Rice Krispie Treat Recipe which we have adjusted and perfected over the years until it is now absolutely the best Rice Krispie Treat recipe we have ever tasted. You can find all the directions you’ll need to make these delicious treats right here. We made three different colors of bites for our Valentine’s Day treat – red, pink and white. You will find the directions you need for making colored Rice Krispie Bites below.
How to make Pink Rice Krispie Treat Bites
First, make a 3 Cup batch of Rice Krispie Treat mixture (3 Tbsp. Butter/3 Cups Mini Marshmallows/3 Cups Cereal). Add the food coloring BEFORE you add the Rice Krispie Cereal. To create this bright shade of Pink we used 8 drops of Pink Wilton Color Right Food coloring. Allow the Pink Rice Krispie Treat mixture to cool enough so you can handle it but that it is still malleable. To get Rice Krispie Bites that were the same sized I measured .5 oz. of the mixture on my food scale and then used my hands to roll it into a ball. If the mixture is too sticky, rub your fingers with some butter. I was able to make 18 Rice Krispie Treat Bites from this 3 cup batch of Rice Krispie Treat Mixture.
How to make Red Rice Krispie Treat Bites
For the red Rice Krispie Treat Bites, follow the directions listed above. We got this pretty color of red by using the following amounts of Wilton Color Right Food Coloring;
8 Drops of Crimson
1 Drop of Red
1/2 Drop of Brown
How to make White Rice Krispie Treat Bites
For the white Rice Krispie Treat Bites, follow the directions as outline above but don’t add any food coloring to the marshmallow mixture.
