How to Make the Rice Krispie Treat Mixture
Step 1: The base for our Bewitched Rice Krispie Treats is our Best Ever Rice Krispie Treat Recipe which we have adjusted and perfected over the years until it is now absolutely the best Rice Krispie Treat recipe we have ever tasted. You can find all the directions you’ll need to make these delicious treats right here.
How to Color the Rice Krispie Treat Mixture
Steps 2-4: You need to make three batches of Rice Krispie Treat mixture in Black, Green, and Purple. For detailed instructions on how to make the Rice Krispie Treat mixture. You will add the food coloring to the melted marshmallow mixture BEFORE adding the Rice Krispie Cereal. We used the Pink, Blue, Red, Yellow, and Black coloring from the Wilton Color Right Food Coloring system in the following amounts:
Purple Layer
3 Cups of Rice Krispie Treat mixture (3 Tbsp. Butter/3 Cups Marshmallows/3 Cups Cereal)
8 Drops of Pink Food Coloring
2 Drops of Blue Food Coloring
2 Drops of Red Food Coloring
Green Layer
3 Cups of Rice Krispie Treat mixture (3 Tbsp. Butter/3 Cups Marshmallows/3 Cups Cereal)
4 Drops of Yellow Food Coloring
1 Drop of Blue Food Coloring
Black Layer
3 Cups of Rice Krispie Treat mixture (3 Tbsp. Butter/3 Cups Marshmallows/3 Cups Cereal)
4 Drops of Black Food Coloring
Assembly Instructions
Step 5: Pour the first batch of the Rice Krispie Treat mixture into a lightly buttered large cookie sheet. Press down the mixture into the cookie sheet. It should fill approximately 1/3 of cookie sheet.
Step 6: Do the same thing with the green Rice Krispie Treat mixture.
Step 7: And finally repeat the process with the purple Rice Krispie Treat mixture. Don’t press the three colors together. Allow the three strips cool for 10-15 minutes.
Step 8: Remove the Black, Green and Purple Rice Krispie Treat mixture from the cookie sheet and stack them. Purple on the top, Green in the middle, and Black on the bottom.
Step 9: Cut the stack of Rice Krispie Treats down the middle length-wise.
Step 10: Now stack them again so you have a six-layer stack.
Step 11: Slice the 6 layer loaf into 1-inch slices.
Step 12: We trimmed the edges a bit so we had an even rectangle and then we cut each slice into two pieces to create the Bewitched Rice Krispie Wands.
Step 13: If you do the assembly while the Rice Krispie Treat layers as still warm, the layers will stick together. We pressed them down a bit after we had cut them into sticks. So pretty and Halloween-y! And who doesn’t love a Rice Krispie Treat?

Ingredients
- 9 cups Kellogg’s Rice Krispie Cereal
- 9 cups Mini Marshmallows
- 9 tablespoons Butter (Sweet Cream, Salted)
- Wilton Color Right Food Coloring System
Instructions
You will need to make three batches of Rice Krispie Treat mixture - a Black, Green and Purple
Directions for each layer for the Rice Krispie Treats
- Melt 3 tbsp. Butter in a medium pan.
- Add 3 cups of Mini Marshmallows and stir until the marshmallows are completely melted.
- Take the pan off the heat.
- Add food coloring and mix.
- Add 3 cups of Rice Krispie Cereal and mix until they are completely covered with the marshmallow mixture.
- Allow the Rice Krispie Mixture to cool slightly.
- Pour the Rice Krispie Mixture into a cookie sheet (covered in parchment paper or buttered.)
- Flatten the mixture into the cookie sheet.
To assemble the Rice Krispie Treats:
- Once all the layers have cooled, stack the layers of Rice Krispie Treats. Black on the bottom and then green and then purple.
- Cut each sheet of Rice Krispie Treats into three equal pieces.
- Starting with a black layer, stack the smaller pieces of Rice Krispie Treats, alternating colors.
- Cut a slice from the loaf you just created and then cut out four Bewitched "Wands"
