My daughter is still crazy for Frozen.  Luckily, we don’t have to watch it multiple times a day anymore, but we still have to sing the  songs every day.  I wanted to do something fun for her for Valentine’s Day, so Laurie and I (mostly Laurie) came up with these fun Frozen hearts.  They are reminiscent of our Christmas ornaments, but these are filled with kisses.  I think they will be a fun valentine’s gift for her.

How to Make A Kiss for Your Frozen Heart

You will need:

• 100 mm Acrylic Fillable Heart Shaped Ornaments
• Martha Stewart Pearl Craft Paint in Splash and Mother of Pearl
• Blue and White Ribbon
• Mod Podge
• Hot Glue Gun
• Inkjet Printer
• Hershey’s Kisses

You can find these plastic heart ornaments in craft stores.  We saw them at Christmas and Valentines at Hobby Lobby and Michaels.  If you are doing this project for a Frozen Birthday Party, we found this online resources where you can get them all year long.  For the paint color, we used Martha Stewart Pearl Craft Paint in Splash and Mother of Pearl.  They are the perfect Frozen colors.

We painted the inside of the Frozen Hearts using the shaking technique.  Pour a large dab of paint into each side of the plastic heart and then snap the heart together. Start shaking.

If you shake the Frozen Heart enough, the paint on the inside will completely cover all of the clear plastic.You will need to shake the heart in many different directions to get the paint to cover all the plastic.   But side benefit, this technique is also an excellent upper arm work out!

When you open the heart, the paint will look like this.  There is extra paint that you need to let drip out.

Turn the hearts over on a paper plate and let the extra paint drip out.   The remaining layer of paint should be dry within 24 hours.

We did the same thing with the Mother of Pearl paint.

As you can see, sometimes there is a small area that seems like it won’t get covered.  You just need to shake the ornament in a different direction.  We’ve never had to add more paint.

We found pictures of Elsa, Anna and Olaf on Google Images and printed them out on regular printer paper on an inkjet printer. The perfect print size to fit our Frozen Hearts was 1.3″ x 2.5″.  Then we carefully cut out the images with scissors.

We used Mod Podge to apply the Frozen character images to the Frozen Heart.  After we attached the image to the heart, we covered the image only with a very thin layer of Mod Podge to add a little shine.

Then we made a small bow with the blue and white ribbon and attached it with a hot glue gun.

Finally, we filled the Frozen Hearts with candy. To go with our “A Kiss for Your Frozen Heart” theme, we used Hershey’s kisses.   There are so many different types now, we decided upon regular Milk Chocolate which has a silver wrapper and Hershey’s Cookies and Cream which comes with a pretty Frozen blue wrapper.

These aren’t just a cute Valentine’s Day gift for the Frozen fans in your family, these Frozen Hearts would also be a great party favor for a Frozen Birthday Party.

Or they could be ornaments on a Frozen themed Christmas Tree.  So pretty. So many uses.  And even after the “kisses” are gone, kids will love hiding away their treasured things in this pretty Frozen Heart container!
