These Magic Bars are a classic for a reason. They have an ooey-gooey filling topped with coconut, nuts, and chocolate sitting on a buttery graham cracker crust. We know, we know … we had you at graham cracker crust! Good any time of year, these easy to make cookie bars seem to be especially popular during the Christmas holidays. This is not surprising because they are the kind of cookie you have to stop yourself from eating three of in one sitting. You’re definitely going to want to make a batch of these today!
Ingredients you will need
- Graham Crackers: You will need 1 1/2 cups of Graham Cracker crumbs for the bottom crust of the Magic Bars. This is approximately 13 sheets of graham cracker or 1 1/2 packages.)
- Chocolate Chips: We use Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips but you can use Milk Chocolate or Dark Chocolate if that is what you have on hand.
- Nuts: Any kind of nuts will work with this cookie bar. We typically use Walnuts or Pecans but Almonds or even Peanuts would work too.
How to make the Magic Bars
Step 1: Pour Graham Cracker crumbs into a gallon plastic bag. Add melted butter. Close the bag and massage the crumbs until they are thoroughly coated with the butter.
Step 2: Pour the Graham Cracker crumbs into a 9×13 pan lined with parchment paper. If you don’t have parchment paper, spray the pan with cooking spray.
Step 3: Press the Graham Cracker mixture into the pan.
Step 4: Make sure the Graham Cracker crust goes all the way out to the edges of the pan.
Step 5: Pour the sweetened condensed milk evenly over the graham crackers crust.
Step 6: Sprinkle the chocolate chips in an even layer over the crust.
Step 7: Sprinkle the coconut over the chocolate chips.
Step 8: Sprinkle the nuts over the coconut.
Step 9: Sprinkle a handful of chocolate chips over the nuts and then lightly press the chocolate chips and nuts down with a spatula or the back of a spoon. Don’t press down too hard you don’t want to break the graham cracker crust.
Step 10: Bake in an oven preheated to 350 degrees for 25 minutes. The bars should be lightly browned on top. Check the bars after 20 minutes, if they are browning too fast cover the pan with foil and continue baking.
Step 11: Cool the bars completely and then cut into bars. Enjoy!
Expert Tips and FAQs
No. Although they do have Sweetened Condensed Milk as an ingredient, you don’t need to worry about refrigerating the bars once they have been baked.
Allow the bars to cool completely before you store them. Place them in an air-tight container and they will be fresh for 3-4 days at room temperature. They will be good in the freezer, for up to 3 months.

- 2 cups Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
- 1 1/3 cups Flaked Coconut
- 1/2 cup Nuts (chopped)
Instructions
