Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars
This Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars recipe takes a classic cookie dough and transforms it into a much easier to bake cookie bar. Same great taste but much less time in the kitchen!
There is a raging debate in our family … which is better, Chocolate Chip Cookies or Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars? This Chocolate Chip Cookie Bar recipe has the same ingredients as its cookie counterpart but it does have a distinct taste all of its own. More cookie center, less cookie crust, we think. One area where it undoubtedly shines is how much easier a cookie bar is to make. So if you are short on time but have a craving for a rich, buttery, chocolate chip cookie this is the recipe for you.
Ingredients You Will Need
How to Make the Cookie Dough
Step 1: Add the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar to a mixing bowl.
Step 2: Cream until light and fluffy.
Step 3: Add one egg and the vanilla and mix until combined. And then add the remaining egg and continue to mix.
Step 4: In a separate bowl, add flour, Baking Soda, salt, and whisk together until combined. Add the flour mixture a bit at a time.
Step 5: Mix the flour with the dough just until it is incorporated into the cookie dough. (Do not overmix.)
Step 6: Stir in the chocolate chips.
Step 7: No need to refrigerate the dough. You are now ready to get it into the oven to bake.
Baking Instructions
Step 8: Spoon the cookie dough into a 9×13″ baking pan lined with parchment paper.
Step 9: Press the cookie dough down until it is evenly dispersed in the pan. To get a smooth and even cookie bar, we placed a piece of parchment paper over the raw cookie dough in the baking pan and used the back of a measuring cup to even it out in the pan. Two Sisters Tip: Before you put the baking pan in the oven, lightly press a handful of extra chocolate chips into the top of the dough for a prettier cookie top!
Step 10: Bake the cookie bars in an oven preheated to 350 degrees for 22-25 minutes or until golden brown on the top.
Step 11: Allow the Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars to cool before removing them from the pan.
Step 12: Once cooled, cut into individual cookie bars.
