Dinosaur Eggs Rice Krispie Treats
Dinosaur Eggs Rice Krispie Treats are a fun and easy-to-make treat, Make them in any color and wow the guests at your Dinosaur Party with this yummy dessert.
A party is not a party without Rice Krispie Treats but we were initially stumped when brainstorming a good Rice Krispie Treat idea for a Dinosaur Party. Then we realized we could do a fun Dino version of our Rice Krispie Treat Easter Eggs. These Dinosaur Eggs Rice Krispie Treats were the perfect addition to our dinosaur dessert table. They were super easy to make and ended up being one of the most popular desserts at our Dinosaur Party.
How to Make the Rice Krispie Treat Mixture
Step 1: The base for our Rice Krispie Dinosaur Eggs is our Best Ever Rice Krispie Treat Recipe which we have adjusted and perfected over the years until it is now absolutely the best Rice Krispie Treat recipe we have ever tasted. You can find all the directions you’ll need to make these delicious treats right here.
How to Make the Dinosaur Eggs
Step 2: For each color of eggs, you will need a batch of 3 -cup batch of Rice Krispie Treat mixture (3 tablespoons of butter, 3 cups of mini marshmallows, and 3 cups of Rice Krispies Cereal.) We started with the beige eggs first using a mixture with no food coloring at all.
Step 3: Cover your hands in a small bit of butter, grab a handful of the Rice Krispie Treat mixture, and then use your hands to form the Dinosaur Eggs. We made some eggs smaller and some larger. Shaping the eggs is super easy to do.
How to Make Colored Dinosaur Eggs
Steps 4 -5: Make a second 3-cup batch of Rice Krispie Treat mixture but this time add food coloring to the melted marshmallow mixture BEFORE you add the Rice Krispie Cereal. To get this pretty shade of green we added 3 drops of yellow food coloring and 1 drop of blue food coloring. Mold the dinosaur eggs just as you did with the white version.
Steps 6 -7: Make a third 3-cup batch of Rice Krispie Treat mixture but this time color the mixture dark orange. To get this darker shade of orange we added 3 drops of orange food coloring and 1/2 drop of brown food coloring. Mold the dinosaur eggs just as you did with the white version.
How to Decorate the Dinosaur Eggs
Steps 8-9: To add some pizzazz to the Dinosaur Eggs we used some individual pieces of purple Rice Krispie Treat mixture to create “speckles” on the eggs. Save a tablespoon of each color of Rice Krispie Treat mixture when you make the eggs. Pull off the individual kernels of the Rice Krispie Cereal mixture you saved and press them onto the colored Dinosaur Eggs. Fun and easy!
Other Color Ideas
Our Dinosaur Eggs Rice Krispie Treats were so easy to make and very popular at our Dinosaur Party. You could make them in any color combination to match your party color theme and we promise they will be gobbled up by the dino fans (both old and young.)
